Senior Citizens Ode
All of us started life as a child.
Some of us may have been somewhat wild.
Most have given our strength and labors,
Thinking not only of self but neighbors.
Dutifully performing our tasks;
Paying taxes the government asks.
We’ve supported all sorts of causes
Just like proverbial Santa Clauses.
We did it not for honor or praise;
We knew helping those in need always pays.
For most, our working days are over,
Though we are not exactly in clover.
We still have talents we can share;
Thus be a blessing everywhere.
So give Senior Citizens a break
And their situation easier make,
If for nothing else, for goodness sake!
