When Flowers Are Best
The people I meet from time to time,
I sometimes praise--or tease--in rhyme.
The way I am impressed,
Determines how expressed;
Whether subtle jest or words sublime!
I have been writing poems since a boy,
Making up limericks, I enjoy.
I believe in giving
Flowers to the living.
To that end, I my talents employ.
Oft I praise a living person in verse,
Though my phrases may be rather terse;
Heartfelt though, nonetheless,
I praise their faithfulness,
Being jewels in God's universe.
